A Rebate is an amount paid by way of reduction, return, or refund on what has already been paid or contributed.

It is a type of sales promotion that marketers use primarily as an incentive or supplements to product sales. The mail-in rebate is the most common.

Many organizations offer Product Rebates to homeowners who purchase various types of energy-efficient, renewable energy, and water-efficient products. These organizations may include:

  • Governmental agencies.
  • Utility providers.
  • Product manufacturers.

Authorized in 2012 by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), Southern California Regional Energy Network offers a wide range of resources and useful information about energy efficiency programs to homeowners interested in making energy efficiency improvements throughout the areas served by Southern California Edison® (SCE), Los Angeles Department Of Water And Power (LADWP), and SoCalGas®.

The programs and services offered by SoCalREN have led to more than $4 Million in rebates paid to homeowners who made energy efficiency upgrades. These upgrades were installed in 7,330 multi-family units throughout Southern California.

Energy Upgrade California® is a statewide initiative committed to uniting Californians in striving toward reaching the state’s energy conservation goals.

The Energy Upgrade California Program serves as a one-stop shop for California homeowners who want to improve the energy efficiency of their homes. This program connects homeowners with qualified contractors, and helps homeowners find all the available incentives from their local utilities and local governments. The program is available statewide and is managed locally by utilities and regional energy networks.

Energy Upgrade California assists homeowners with rebates and incentives and offers two Upgrade Options a homeowner can choose from:

  • The Basic Home Upgrade Package.
  • The Advanced Home Upgrade Package.

Some examples of product rebates from Energy Upgrade California may include:

  • $25 - $50 rebate on energy-efficient washers.
  • $50 - $125 rebate on smart thermostats.
  • $100 - $200 rebate on water heaters.

Southern California Gas, or SoCalGas® assists homeowners in saving energy and money.

The company has a special SoCalGas® Home Upgrade Program for homeowners. This program is based on a comprehensive “whole-house” approach and suggests that homeowners implement multiple improvements at the same time.

SoCalGas® offers two specific programs presented below.

HOME UPGRADE

This program offers incentives up to $1,300. A minimum of three upgrades are required. One of these upgrades must be a Base Upgrade.

Flex Upgrades
